2025 FDM Blog Post Process (Updated)

If you are looking for information on publishing blog content on the Neighborly Franchise Development website, here are current instructions and best practices.

NOTE: For the foreseeable future, FDM will prioritize enhancing and optimizing existing blog content with few exceptions for developing new blog content.

Step #1: Fill out the Creative Brief Request Form

It's important to have a solid understanding of the purpose and goals of the blog post. Consider audience, CTAs, and use cases. Filling out the Creative Brief Request Form via Monday.com will help set the foundation and explain the "why" behind the request.

Step #2: Internal Creative Brief Request Review

Once the request form is submitted Jazmine will compile the information together to inform our contracted writers and develop a go-forward plan.

Needs from writer:

  • Blog Content (w/ Word Count)
  • Title
  • Meta Description

Step #3: Development Stage (External)

Expect a minimum of two (2) weeks for the writing development process. Our contractors are currently outsourcing this work:

Step #4: Internal Review 

Jazmine and Jordyn will review the draft blog once completed and make necessary edits, including adding media-rich visual content updates.

Step #5: Request Legal Approval

Once all updates have been made, Jazmine and/or Jordyn will send the blog content via email to the appropriate legal counsel to review and approve. Refer to this spreadsheet for legal point of contact information.

Step #6: Set-Up in HubSpot

Jordyn and/or Jazmine will set-up the content directly in HubSpot.
  • On the Hubspot Left Navigation - go to "Blog" located under the "Content" section
  • Make sure you have the second tab "A Lifestyle And Business Blog" selected
  • Then hit "Create" in the top left corner followed by "Create Blog"

Blog

  • From here you will fill in the title and paste in the content in the text section of the blog
    • Make sure that formatting all looks correctly and "Remove Styling" if you are unsure

Remove Styling

  • Once the blog looks correct, click on "Setting" in the top navigation
    • Verify the blog title
    • Edit the post URL (simplify by removing words like "at" or "the")
    • Add an Author - use "Neighborly" if there is no designated author
    • Add Tags - Brands & Category:
      • Category options include: Business Ownership, Career Change, Financing, Franchising 101, Inspiration, Leadership, Professional Development, Veterans
      • NOTE: Use "Leadership" for all blogs from BizCom PR - these are for people like Mike Davis & Brian Woods
    • Add a Featured Image:
      • Custom image: Click Browse Images, Click on "View All" and go to 1. FDM from there, navigate to a brand or NBLY, click on the "Blog" folder, and upload the photo using the "Upload" button in the bottom left corner of the navigation box. 
      • Stock image: Click on Browse Images, type in your search in the search box, then select "Stock Images" (Other resources for stock images: Adobe Stock and Canva)
      • Make sure you add image alt text for the featured image
    • Add Narration:
      • Hit "Generate with AI" which will turn the blog into a script
      • Select the voice you want to use - typically Alloy or Echo
    • Add Meta Description:
      • This is what is used on search engines to find the blog - a quick sentence summary of the blog or a sentence from the blog that makes the most sense
      • Depends on what the topic is related to and if it is directly tied to a campaign like Veterans or Franchise ReadinessAdd Campaign

Step #7: FDM Leadership Approval

Tag Debbie in the HubSpot blog page comment section for review before moving to the final stage.

Step #8: Publish Blog

  • Hit the "Publish" button in the top left corner or you can "Schedule" the content to publish at a specific time
  • NOTE: If you have serveral blogs that need to be published, scheudle them spread out over the course of the month.
  • NOTE: For BizCom posts - publish immediately then send the link to BizCom of the Live Blog
